MEDICAL PROJECTS - William Polk Project Summary
LakeLand Senior Living Project, Bremerton, Washington
Built on a 5.5-acre site in Bremerton, this project will include two separate structures, LakeLand Lodge, a 2-story 75,000 square-foot, 104-unit assisted-living facility, and also LakeLand Cottage, a 12,000 square-foot building with 12 Alzheimer units. This retirement complex will be constructed off Kitsap Way and include a commercial village complete with a branch bank, beauty salon, doctor's clinic and other amenities.
Roselani Assisted Living, Maui, Hawaii
This new 76,000 square-foot, four-story, steel-framed structure is located on Maui, Hawaii. It accommodates 115 residents and also includes Alzheimer units in a special care unit. Roselani also features conference rooms, an outdoor swimming pool, day spa, library, beauty shops, large dining room, and arts and crats center and day rooms.
Diagnostic Treatment Clinic, Maui, Hawaii
Schematic design consisted of a 30,000 square-foot space planning and tenant improvement for outpatient diagnostic imaging (MRI), outpatient radiation therapy, and physician offices.
Psychiatric Clinic, Maui, Hawaii
This schematic design for a 45,000 square-foot addition and renovation created a new 46 bed facility for adolescent and adult patients.
Angiography Suite Addition, Maui, Hawaii
Schematic design included a 4,000 square-foot addition providing two new angiography procedure rooms.
College Place Surgical Center, Lynnwood, Washington
This 3,000 square-foot clinic is a pre-engineered steel structure with brick veneer exterior walls. Garden areas, surrounded by brick walls, enable each clinic large window areas while maintaining privacy.
Westside Medical Center, Olympia, Washington
This new 12,000 square-foot medical office building included ten medical suites, an x-ray suite, and administrative space.
Redmond Dental Clinic, Redmond, Washington
This 4,000 square-foot clinic was designed to accommodate a group dentistry practice. Pre-engineered steel frame with brick exterior walls provided a substantial and economical building.
Day Surgery, Bellingham, Washington
The firm provided space planning and tenant improvements for six medical suites.

Medical School Remodel, Seattle, Washington
William Polk Associates secured an open-end/on-call contract for renovation projects within the Health Sciences Complex on the University of Washington campus. Some projects include:
A. Keck Foundation Laboratories - Pharmacology, D422-424, Seattle, Washington
Design work included the remodeling and reconfiguration of two laboratory rooms into one 765 square-foot laboratory with new casework, unistrut, gas, air and fume hood.
B. Pharmacology Laboratory, D418, Seattle, Washington
An existing laboratory was divided into two rooms, adding casework, unistrut, eyewash station and a sink.
C. Psychiatry Laboratory, BB 15th Floor, Seattle, Washington
Demolition of office space and reconfiguration provided new wet laboratory space.
D. Nursing Skills Laboratory, Seattle, Washington
This University of Washington project involved renovation and reconfiguration of teaching space with mock-up station, such as hospital beds to instruct nursing students on appropriate procedures.
E. Physiology Laboratory, H122/126, Seattle, Washington
This project for the Medical School included a 705 square-foot renovation with casework, countertops, unistrut, gas, air and fume hood.
F. Department of Administration Offices Remodel, Seattle, Washington
The renovation design included a consolidation of department offices and other space to create a more functional work environment.
G. Department of Urology Library Remodel, Seattle, Washington
The University of Washington Urology Library and Conference Center were created from renovation of existing office space to incorporate both facilities. It included custom millwork, detailing and furniture.
MEDICAL PROJECTS
William Polk Medical Projects (from Prior Firms)
East Wing Expansion, Seattle, Washington
Project design involved a $40 million dollar addition and renovation to the existing University of Washington Hospital. It included 250 new private patient rooms with special nursing units for kidney dialysis, oncology, and critical care, and 6 new operating rooms organized around a sterile core. ORs were specialized for orthopedics, open heart and neurosurgery.
Oncology Phase I, II and III, Seattle, Washington
This was a $3.1 million dollar phased addition and renovation to the existing University of Washington Hospital. Projects included: Installation of a patient treatment neutron therapy system (cyclotron), and installation of three linear accelerators 6 mev, 18 mev, 25 mev.
NN Court Phases I, II and III, Seattle, Washington
Design consisted of a 60,000 square-foot new underground structure for Pathology, Lab and Medical General Research Lab departments. The products included a 2.0T MRI research system including RF shielding and a P.E.T. (Positron Emission Tomography) scanner suite for treatment.
Northwest Hospital, Seattle, Washington
This project was part of a ten-year campus development plan and major expansion. A new 163,000 square-foot nursing wing was added to the hospital.
Northwest Medical Office Building, Seattle, Washington
The new 40,000 square-foot brick office building consisted of two stories and was part of Northwest Hospital's major expansion. This brick structure was designed to house administration and other office staff.
A-Wing Addition, Seattle, Washington
This is a new 163,000 square-foot addition to Northwest Hospital. The project included 108 new private patient rooms, 8 new operating rooms organized around a sterile core with dumb waiters connecting materials management/central supply below; food service and conference center.
Campus Master Plan NW, Seattle, Washington
Design of a ten-year campus development plan and draft EIS as part of the hospital's major institution master planning process for the City of Seattle. The plan provides for two above ground parking structures, two medical office buildings and three additional patient wings for a total of 1,000,000 additional square feet.
1600 Jefferson Tower, Seattle, Washington
The new five-story medical office building was the largest of several major architectural projects contracted by Providence on the Seattle campus of Providence Medical Center.
Cancer Center Addition, Seattle, Washington
This involved the design of a new $1.2 million dollar facility for cancer treatment.
Laboratory Medicine Renovation, Seattle, Washington
A $2 million dollar remodel was designed for the existing laboratory medicine department.
Psychiatric Unit Renovation, Seattle, Washington
This was a $400,000 remodel of an existing 74-bed inpatient psychiatric nursing unit.
Orthopedic Unit Renovation, Seattle, Washington
This was a $500,000 interior remodel to the existing 29-bed nursing unity.
Rehabilitation Renovation, Seattle, Washington
The 31-bed nursing unit was renovated. Project cost was $350,000.
Madigan Army Medical Center, Fort Lewis, Washington
The design team of new 478 bed, $375 million dollar comprehensive medical center included William Polk and other architects, originally of John Graham who later joined William Polk Associates. Polk was responsible for rescheduling the firm's resources to adequately staff this major design project and to meet production schedules. The new Madigan Army Medical Center included specialized nursing units, operating rooms, radiology and outpatient clinics.
Medical Center Addition, Vancouver, Washington
This major project involved the design of a $10.4 million dollar addition to the existing medical center in Vancouver, Washington. The addition added a 120-bed, in-patient facility to the hospital.
