Fort Lawton Band Center
Fort Lawton, Washington

This Band Center project included modifications to the drill (assembly) hall at Building 216, Harvey Hall on Fort Lawton, Washington and construction of an adjacent building to accommodate assignment of the 70th Division Band to Fort Lawton. The space was modified for use as a main band practice hall and multipurpose use auditorium with tiered fixed seating, new lighting, and power and space conditioning systems as appropriate for the new use. Provisions were made for acoustic control through use of acoustically absorbent panels as well as by the design of the space. A new 5,033-square-foot addition was constructed on the south side of the existing assembly hall to accommodate all other functions of the 70th Division Band. The new building accommodates unit office space, rehearsal rooms, a recording room, storage and repair spaces, and a locker area.
