St. Edward Pool & Gym Condition & Feasibility Assessment
Kenmore, Washington

ORB Architects, now part of INNOVA Architects, was selected to perform a building condition assessment for the pool and gym facility at St. Edward State Park. The situation was urgent — the aquatic facility and gymnasium, both valued community assets, had been shut down indefinitely. Issues with the facilities ranged from deferred maintenance to energy inefficiencies. Without additional information on both the short-term and long-term needs to make it viably operational, state and county financial assistance was very unlikely. The community had a strong desire to come up with a plan for reopening the facility.

Our report presented the findings of our consultant team and addressed the repairs needed to make the building functional with regard to the building envelope, structural components, pool, and mechanical and electrical systems. Our report and recommendations gave the City of Kenmore the information they needed to make smart decisions and persuasive arguments regarding the future of the facility.

"The City Council meeting went very, very well. The ORB Architects team did excellent work and made an excellent presentation, as usual, and I and the City Council are very appreciative. I am so thankful that we asked you to do this work for the City. The thoroughness of the report, the subconsultants, the timeliness, the responsiveness, and the comprehensiveness of the efforts — all have been on the mark and then some."
-- Fred Stouder, City Manager, City of Kenmore
